Celebrating 25 years creating real impact in Atlantic Canada

Researchers at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax have published new insights on the effects of inbreeding in the endangered North Atlantic Right Whale. Researchers wanted to understand whether inbreeding (and resulting low levels of genetic diversity) is contributing to the whales’ poor reproductive performance. This latest study builds on a $6-million, four-year international collaboration partially supported by Genome Canada, Genome Atlantic and Research Nova Scotia.
